Barbara Ann Abernathy

Born on December 7, 1958, in Evanston, Wyoming, she grew up surrounded by the beauty and close-knit spirit of her hometown. It was in Evanston that she met Fred Abernathy while he was working on a seismograph crew. The two were married in Lander, Wyoming, on October 29, 1977, and later moved to Lander in 1978.

Both devoted many years of service to the State of Wyoming, and after retiring, they opened their own greenhouse business, which they operated together until Fred's passing in 2016

She is survived by their two children, Becky Hoyt and Christopher Abernathy (Maria); her mother, Jilleen Muir; her sisters, Debbie Ludwick and Connie Dean; and five beloved grandchildren — Noah, Abigail, Elizabeth, William, and Henry — who brought her endless joy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
