ZONA FRANCES GOGGLES MOSS

Funeral Services for Zona Frances Moss will be held Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Blue Sky Hall in Ethete, Wyoming.Visitation will be held Friday, July 27, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Blue Sky Hall with the service at 7:00 p.m. The all night wake will take place at 456 Ethete Road following the services at Blue Sky Hall.Services are under the direction of Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander, Wyoming.

Zona Frances Goggles Moss was born March 20, 1942 at home on the Wind River Reservation to the late Benjamin Goggles, Jr. and Frances Whiteplume C'Hair.Her Arapaho Indian name was, Nook3onii'ehisei "Golden Eagle Woman".She married Norman Moss on July 23, 1960.

Zona attended school at St. Michaels Mission and she graduated high school as the salutatorian from Braneird Indian School in Hot Springs, SD.

Zona was the Keeper of the Sacred Wheel of the Northern Arapaho People and a ceremonial elder for the tribe.

Zona loved working with the young people and previously worked at St. Michaels Mission as a church secretary, houseparent and counselor.She was also a member of the Council of Elders.Also, she was a member of the Chief Yellow Calf Memorial Club and a member of the St. Michaels Episcopal Church. In May of 2007, she received an honorary degree from the Wind River Tribal College.She was currently employed by the Wind River Tribal College as a cultural archivist and advisor.

All of her grandchildren and great grandchildren found comfort in her compassionate and loving ways.They all knew she was there when they needed help and loving hugs to reassure them that everything was going to be alright. She was an avid supporter of Wyoming Indian High School athletics and a strong Lady Chiefs basketball fan.

She is survived by her son, Jerome Antelope, daughters; Debbie Moss, Sandi and Pat Iron Cloud, Avalene and Mylan Glenmore, Aleta Moss, Rickina and William Armour, Aldene and Martin Underwood, Marva Moss and Sara and Tim Robinson.She had many adopted sons and daughters;Nelson Moss, Marlin Spoonhunter, Harvey Spoonhunter, Alan Jenkins, Richard Ortiz, Tillie Jenkins and many other who loved Zona and called her mother and grandmother.Sisters; Mildred Shirley and George Enos, Merle Haas, Ursula Sankey, Sara and Steve Wiles, Irma Groesbeck and Louella White.Brother; Alonzo Moss, Sr.She had many immediate grandchildren and great grandchildren; Donavon Antelope, Jarilyn Antelope, Norman and Randee Iron Cloud, Rebecca Iron Cloud, Samuel Iron Cloud, Dontae Antelope, Mylee Antelope, Jermaine Bell, Luke Bell, Angel Barrera, Nathanial Antelope, Sharese Little Coyote, Torrie Little Coyote, Hailee Little Coyote, Jaci Iron Cloud, Chloe Iron Cloud, Amani Iron Cloud, Norman Iron Cloud, Jr., Waniyetu Iron Cloud and Cassie Iron Cloud.

She also had many other grandchildren and great grandchildren she took under her wing when her sisters Gladys and Ardeline went home.Everyone knew Grandma would always be there for them.

She loved going to pow-wows, listening to the North Bear Singers and especially loved going to the Casino.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Moss, father Benjamin Goggles, Jr., Mother, Frances C'Hair, sons;Claude Moss, Sr., Thomas White, Sr., Kenneth White, daughters;Doreen Bell and Roseen Spotted Elk, brothers;James Goggles, Thomas White, Sr., Richard"Dicky Moss", Harold Moss, Paul Moss, Charles Moss and Raphael Allen Moss; sisters:Marilyn Goggles, Gladys Moss,Lucille Ridgely, Rose Marie Moss, Ardeline Spotted Elk, Odelia Sitting Eagle, Victoria Goggles, Gloria Jean Goggles, Ina Weed, Ursula Miranda Goggles, Elizabeth Goggles and granddaughter Elisa Amour.
