William Jamison McDonald, 89, formerly of Downingtown, Pa. and Hawk Valley, Lancaster County, Pa. and presently living for the last 17 years in Lander, Wyoming, died on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. A Memorial Service will begin at 2:00pm on Wednesday, March 22nd at the Chapel of Mount Hope in Hudson's Funeral Home. The interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
Mr. McDonald was a son of the late John and Laura McDonald.He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Neff and a brother, Robert McDonald.He is survived by a sister, Janet Carlin, two daughters; Jane McDonald and Meg McDonald, a granddaughter, Alicia Forbes, a grandson, Christopher Matthews, 2 great-grandsons, & 3 great-granddaughters.
Mr. McDonald graduated from Downingtown High School in 1947 and attended Villanova University where he received a B.S. Degree in Secondary Education in 1952.
Mr. McDonald married Louise L. Barker in 1952 and was happily married for 42 years until his wife's death in 1994.In the year 2000, Mr. McDonald married Dorothy Ann Gee. In 2003, he and his wife, Ann, moved to Lander, Wyoming. Mrs. McDonald died in 2006.
Mr. McDonald taught English in the Great Valley School Districts.In 1984, he retired from teaching after 32 years.He was chairman of the English Dept. of the Great Valley School District from 1968 - 1984.
Mr. McDonald and his wife, Ann, loved to travel in the United States. He was an avid collector of antiques.For 25 years, he operated a stand at the Black Angus Antique Center outside of Lancaster, Pa.
