Wendie Peterson, age 57, of Lander, Wyoming, passed away on August 16, 2026, in the community she called home. She was born on April 28, 1969, in Eugene, Oregon, to Dallas and DenaRae Peterson. Wendie’s life was filled with quiet joys, meaningful friendships, and a deep love for the people who surrounded her.
Wendie will be remembered with tenderness by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. She had a gentle spirit, a loving heart, and a way of finding beauty in the simple things. Her favorite color was blue, and she also loved purple because it was her mother’s favorite color—a small but meaningful reminder of the love she carried for her family.
One of Wendie’s treasured blessings was her special friendship with her best friend, Cherie. Cherie introduced her to Christian rock, and together they spent countless hours listening to music that lifted their hearts. Brandon Lake became one of Wendie’s favorites, and “Gratitude” became a song especially dear to them—a reflection of faith, friendship, and the moments they shared.
Wendie found happiness in the activities that brought comfort, creativity, and connection. She loved going to the Pug Festival every year and looked forward to the joy it brought her. She also loved going fishing in the mountains, where she could enjoy the peace and beauty of the outdoors. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee and cards, watercolor painting, and relaxing with adult coloring books. She loved watching Bob Ross and dreamed of someday painting with the same peaceful beauty he shared with the world. Wendie was also a longtime member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, a connection that reflected her appreciation for family, heritage, and belonging.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dallas Peterson; her mother, DenaRae Peterson; aunts, Pat Huff, Debbie Holden, and Clara Jane (Allen) Woodhouse; and uncle, Mark Peterson.
She is survived by her brother, Todd (Carrie) Peterson; nieces, Amanda (Sabah) Baird, Carrollynn (Aric) Kurtz, Natasha Peterson, and Catherine (Jason) Young; nephew, Justin Peterson; aunts, Sandy (Dave) Smail and Jean Peterson; and cousins, LeAnne Woodhouse, Melinda McGee, Marilyn (Steve) Reed, Stephanie Plaster, Richard (Sherry) Huff, Sarah Woodhouse, Marjorie (James) Brown, Darren Plaster, Jeffery (Tricia) Peterson, Jenny (Corey) Draper, Curt (Kristi) Peterson, Stacy (Chris) Hanks, Abbey (Wayne) Marshall, Kevin (Shelly) Peterson, and many other family and friends.
