Wanda Nemecek

Wanda Higgins Nemecek passed away in Twin Falls, Idaho on Thursday, 20 August. She was 86 years old.

Wanda was born in Lander in 1921 to James and Edith Higgins. She grew up on ranches around Lander and graduated from FCVHS in 1941.

During World War II she worked for the local Selective Service office. In her long working career she also worked for Robinson Transportation, the Fremont County Treasurers Office, Salt Creek Freightways and the State of Wyoming Department of Family Services. She retired in 1997.

She married Curtis Nemecek in 1947. They were divorced in 1970.

Wanda was active in many groups in the Lander area. She was a member of the local chapter of the American Legion Auxilary and was the secretary for the FCVHS Alumni Reunion from its beginning until 2004.

She is survived by her son J.C. Nemecek and many relatives in Oklahoma, California and Kansas.

Graveside services were held at Mt. Hope Cemetery on Tuesday, 24 August at 1:00pm.
