VERNA L. ARGENTO
Verna Louise Argento of Lander died Tuesday morning December 28, 2010 at Lander Regional Hospital.She was 76 years old.A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 3 at Hudson Funeral Home in Lander.Mrs. Argento was born October 10, 1934 in Cody, WY, the daughter of Leonard J. and Mildred (Avery) Wentworth.She grew up on the Pitch Fork Ranch in Meeteetse, WY and attended Meeteetse schools.
Mrs. Argento married Allen G. Argento in August of 1950.They moved to Jeffrey City, WY in 1966 and lived there until Allens retirement in 1984.During that time, Mrs. Argento worked as a waitress at The Split Rock Caf and owned and operated the House of Macram.She was an accomplished seamstress, making wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses as well as clothing for her daughters and grandchildren.
In 1984, Mr. and Mrs. Argento moved to Lander, WY where they owned Vernas Used Furniture.Mrs. Argento was also a waitress at various restaurants in Lander.Her hobbies and interests included spending time with family, refinishing furniture, tending her flower gardens, decorating for Christmas, landscaping, camping, hunting, and sewing.She also enjoyed watching movies and listening to books on tape, especially in her later years.
Mrs. Argento is survived by her daughters Sherry Thompson and husband Warren of Lander, WY, Midg Wilbourn of Belgrade, MT, Pauline Keller and husband Jim of Winnemucca, NV; sister Roni Kelley of Arizona; seven grandchildren, Angela Davey and partner Gus, Ty Thompson and wife Jody, Shana Ayers and husband Alex, Nick Keller and wife Kristine, Chuck Keller, Jacob Keller, Levi Keller and wife Lois, and nine great grandchildren.
Verna Argento was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; sons, Butch and Avery; her parents, Leonard and Mildred Wentworth; brother Darel Wentworth and sister-in-law, Charlotte Wentworth.
