Tim W. Wells, 58, of Lander died Saturday, March 26. 2011, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, following a long illness.
He was born February 4, 1953, in Lander to Wallace W. and Leona Ann (Spriridon) Wells. He was educated in Riverton and graduated from Riverton High School, attended Central Wyoming College and graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Parks and Recreation. He married Mary Margaret May in Thermopolis, WY, on June 7, 1975. He was employed by the City of Lander during the late 1970's and 1980's as Parks and Recreation director and was responsible for establishing several of Lander's parks. He then began his career in sales which he pursued until his retirement in 2008 due to his declining health.
Tim had a passion for Wyoming's outdoors and hunted, fished, camped and backpacked in the Wind River Range until his health no longer made it possible for him to engage in these activities. A favorite hunting partner was his youngest brother. Kirn, with whom he enjoyed a special relationship. He was involved with Easter Seals Camps during his younger years. He was an Eagle Scout and continued to work with the scouting program until his son, Jake, obtained his Eagle award.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Lander, his children, Jennifer and Jacob, both of Portland, OR, his mother, Ann, of Lander and five brothers, Pat, Chris, Wally and Kim (Karen) all of Riverton and Matt (Ivy) of Helena, MT. He is also survived by seven nieces, one nephew and several cousins.
Cremation was carried out by Bustard's Funeral Home in Casper. Hudson's Funeral Home in Lander is in charge of local services. A Celebration of Tim's Life will be held in the Chapel of Mt. Hope on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 10 a.m. with Father David Erickson officiating. The eulogy will be delivered by Don Reynolds. Honorary pall bearers will be Kim Wells, David Clark, Kent Schmidlin, Joe Nemick, Jacob Wells and Jennifer Wells. Inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of Wyoming would be appreciated.
