Thomas Edward Sparks

Thomas E. Sparks (Rusty) passed away in his home with his family present on May 20, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services are at 3:00 P.M. on Friday the 25 th at the Hudson Funeral Home in Lander.
Rusty was born on June 20 1957 in Seminole, TX to Thomas P. and Jackie (Roach) Sparks. His family later moved to Thermopolis, Wy. When Rusty was in grade school his family moved to Lander where he attended Fremont County Vocational High School. At age 17 he joined the Army. He was sent to Germany right after boot camp.
While in Germany he met his wife Elisabeth. On October 21 st 1978 Rusty and Elisabeth were married in Herrieden, Germany. On February 27 th 1979 their son Thomas was born. In February 1980 they moved back to the U.S. where he continued his military service at Ft. Carson, Co. In 1982 Rusty was Honorably Discharged from the Army and they moved back to Lander to be close to family. On November 28 th 1984 their son Michael was born. Rusty held various jobs around Lander including restoration of the Atlantic City Iron Ore mine, driving truck and as a mechanic for American Laundry, and working at Nuway Catering before starting his job at the Wyoming Life Resource Center (WSTS) where he worked for 21 years. He retired in 2010 due to his diagnosis of cancer and treatment.
Rusty enjoyed, hunting, fishing, camping, 4 wheeling, snow machining, gardening and spending time with family outside. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taking them on his outdoor adventures. He had many friends around Lander and enjoyed spending time with them playing pool and darts.
Rusty is survived by his wife Elisabeth, and sons Thomas, and wife Jennifer of Lander, Michael and wife Kayse of Kinnear. Grandchildren, Karolina, Kody, Jorja, Michael, and step- grandchild Justin. His sisters Bobbi Jo Sparks of Hudson, Stacey Rodriguez of Odessa, TX. BrotherCasey of Moscow, ID. Aunt Rosemary Sparks of Lander. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and his favorite dog Bandit. He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Jackie Sparks, Uncles & Aunts Dale and Grace James, Johnny and Evelyn Sparks, Butch Sparks, Cousins Tommy Sparks, Alva (Tex) Knott and Bill Carlyle.
