Terrance Robert Bixby

Terrance Robert Bixby, 31, of Fort Washakie, Wyoming, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in Fort Washakie, Wyoming.

Terrance was born and raised in the Fort Washakie community, where he lived throughout his life. He attended Fort Washakie Elementary School and later Chemawa Indian High School in Salem, Oregon. He continued his education at Wind River Job Corps, where he earned his Petroleum Service Technician Certificate.

Throughout his working life, Terrance held several positions, including Petroleum Service Technician, Dialysis Technician, cook, and coach. Coaching and mentoring were important parts of his life. He coached basketball and mentored tribal youth and relatives, sharing his time, knowledge, and encouragement with those around him.

Terrance enjoyed spending time with his son and family. He also enjoyed fishing, playing video games, playing basketball, and exercising. His traditional ways were an important part of his life. Terrance was a Sundancer for 12 years in the Shoshone Sundance and continued to practice and honor his traditional ways.

Terrance is survived by his son, Luka Spud Hereford, and his mother, Reynesse Hereford.

He is also survived by his sisters, Rae Hereford (Gordan Hines), Chawnda Jade Hereford, Chey Bixby, Nanz Bixby (Riley Weaver), Victoria Helena Rivera, Echo Jadian Hereford, Ariona Rainy Dawn Rivera, Jessica Bixby, Letha Bixby, and Shanelle Gomez; and his brothers, Theodore Rivera Jr. and Larry Gomez.

His surviving nieces include Alainia Jade Hereford, Jewel Friday, Sharon Whiteman, and Cedar Friday. His surviving nephews include Alan Friday, Luka Hereford, and Atticus Hereford. His grandchildren include Greyson Redman Jr., Wox` (Bear) Hereford, Jason Bethel, and Julia Hereford.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Bixby; grandparents, Robert and Sharon Hereford, Philberta Tiger, Pearl Brown, and Charlotte Waterman; aunts, Hazel Rooks, Tammy Griego, and Jaqueline Hereford; uncle, LynnRoss Bixby; sisters, Levondra Hereford, Allison Bixby, Jenice, and Jordan Timbana; brother, Ethan Hereford; nephew, Elijah Haze Hereford; and numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

An all-night wake will take place at the family home, 307 Old Wind River Hwy, Fort Washakie, Wyoming, beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Rocky Mountain Hall, 19 N. Fork Road, Fort Washakie, Wyoming. 

Burial will follow at Chief Washakie Cemetery in Fort Washakie, Wyoming.
