Long time Lander resident Sharon Dearth, 72, died at Westward Heights Care Center Friday evening, June 18, 2010 following a lengthy illness.
Cremation has taken place. An open house memorial celebrating Sharon's life is being held at her home, 32 Antler Court, Lander, on Tuesday, June 22 from 1:00p – 3:00p.
Sharon Rose Thompson was born December 10, 1937 to Frank and Helen (Bailey) Thompson in Lima, Ohio. Sharon grew up in Lima and graduated from Lima Senior High in 1955. On October 1, 1961 she married Larry Dearth in Monroe Michigan. Sharon was a homemaker and also worked outside the home at Bluffton Plastic, and Lima Memorial Hospital. The couple and their family moved to Lander in 1977 where Sharon also worked at Bishop Randall Hospital, Rocky Mountain Leather, and the Wyoming State Training School, from which she retired.
Sharon
enjoyed visiting with family, friends and neighbors and helping anyone in need. She touched many lives and spread much joy. Sharon loved her children and grandchildren endlessly and always encouraged and supported them. She believed in giving to others before herself, and putting family first. She taught her children that laughter is healing. Sharon enjoyed reading, watching birds and deer, and looking out at the mountains.
She is survived by her children, Mike and Cathie Gordon of Lima, Ohio, Dennis and Rose Dearth of Parish, FL, Tracie and Dave Gamblin of Green River, WY, and Lori and Mike James of Green River, WY; sibling Lynda and Chuck Lawrence of Lima, Ohio, numerous nieces and nephews, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, her husband, and one daughter, Cheryl Lyons.
