Rose "Sue" Hallett

September 28, 1943 — December 7, 2017

Surrounded by her family, long-time Lander resident Rose Suzanne "Sue" Hallett went to be with her Lord on December 7, 2017.Services were held at Lander Valley Baptist Church on December 15, 2017 at 10 a.m.

Sue was born September 28, 1943 in Hammond, Indiana to Lester K. and Margaret (Medvesany) Kelley.She attended Hammond primary and secondary schools and graduated from Chicagos Northwestern University James Throne School of Nursing in 1964 with a Bachelors of Science as a registered nurse.

After graduation, she married Arthur G. Hallett on September 5, 1964 in Napa, California.The couple later moved to Eureka, CA and began raising their family. In 1978, when Art began working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the family relocated for a brief time in Lame Deer, Montana then settled in Lander, Wyoming in 1979.

Sue spent most of her time and energy keeping her home running smoothly. As needs arose, she would work outside the home as a registered nurse. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital and their associated nursing home in Eureka, California, and also for Bishop Randall Hospital in Lander, Wyoming.She was very proud of her nursing education and kept her nursing license throughout her life.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Lander and later Lander Valley Baptist Church, playing piano and violin and singing in the choir, and participating in womens groups, and Christian Women's Club. Music was always a part of Sue's life, and she enjoyed ministering to others through her gift. She was a dedicated member and supporter of the Fremont county Orchestra for many years. She had apassion to help those in mission work since she could not go herself and helped support Christian missionaries in Ecuador and elsewhere in the world. She was an avid short wave radio listener and enjoyed a variety of radio programs.

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Cameron of Torrington, Wyoming; her daughter Karen Dayton and son-in-law Jason of Lander; her grand-daughters Jessica Elliott of Boise, Idaho, Jodi Gross of Sioux Falls, SD, and Erika Brown and her husband Will of Sioux Falls, SD: her grandsons Eliah Dayton of Biddeford, Maine, Seth and Jonathan Dayton of Lander, and James Vander Veen of Scottsbluff, Nebraska as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Phillip Kelley, and her son, David.
