Robin Perry Whiteplume

June 27, 1964 — June 20, 2025

Robin Perry Whiteplume of Colorado Springs, Colorado, died in his home in Colorado Springs on June 20th, 2025, just shy of his 61st birthday.

Robin was born on June 27th, 1964, to Jule and Ora (Gould) Whiteplume in Lander, Wyoming. He was raised on the Wind River Reservation, attended elementary and middle school at Mill Creek, and graduated from Lander Valley High School. He attended the University of Wyoming and attained various credits throughout his years, always furthering his education. Robin was a very successful student, often referred to as "The Professor." He showed his smarts by being an avid reader, history buff, and author of "Sho-Rap Highway: The Native American Firefighters of Wind River." He was in the process of writing his second book, a historical fiction about 2 Native brothers passing through multiple significant events of Native American history in the 20th century.

Robin was the lead artist in his household. His artistic endeavors included sculpting (so many bobbleheads), wood carving, any cartoon drawing his daughter wanted, mean pumpkin carving, holiday lawn enhancements, and birthday cake decorating (even his own).

Wildland firefighting was Robin's lifelong love. Serving for over 40 years in many different roles, including line crews, fire investigation, fire mitigation, fire education, engine boss, etc. He cherished his firefighting brothers and sisters and will be missed in this community.

When it wasn't fire season, Robin enjoyed hanging with his dog Pooch, watching TV, going to Broncos games, being a softball/basketball/dance dad, and spending time (one-on-one) with family. Robin had a generous, wise, and nurturing soul that will be missed very much.

Survivors include his wife Peggy Whiteplume; daughters Sarah and Jenna Whiteplume; son Craig Lyons; grandchildren Bella and Gia Lyons, and Joshua and Oliver Page; sisters Sue Petsch, Ricki Martinez (Lambert), Paula Whiteplume (Ridge), and Pauline John; brothers William Whiteplume and Keith Whiteplume; brother-in-laws Floyd Osborne and Ed Noisyhawk; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Robin was preceded in death by his parents, Jule and Ora Whiteplume; siblings Sandra Osborne, Jule "Smokey" Whiteplume Jr., and Kathryn Noisyhawk; and his beloved dog Pooch.

Services will be held at Blue Sky Hall on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, at 11:00 am, with burial at the Whiteplume cemetery and dinner to follow.
