Roberta (“Berta”) Hamilton LeClair Palmer, 97, of Lander, Wyoming, passed away on December 29, 2025, in Lander.
Roberta was born in Evanston, Wyoming, in 1928 to Jane Abigail (Abbey) Megeath Hamilton and Robert Lewis Hamilton. Roberta was a Wyomingite and spent her formative years in Wind River and Fort Washakie on the Wind River Reservation. Roberta loved a sweet treat, and one of her first memories was trying a Milky Way Bar. She also had fond memories of working at the City Bakery where she loved to indulge in a donut and a lime freeze.
Roberta’s first marriage was to Stanley LeClair. They had four sons: Tex, Richard, Kenneth and James. She met her second husband, Dale Palmer, while employed at Mountain Bell Phone Company, and married him at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Cheyenne in 1968.
While living in Cheyenne, Roberta worked as a nurse’s aide at DePaul Catholic Hospital. She later worked at Mountain Bell Phone Company (now known as AT&T). Over the years, Roberta enjoyed a successful and fulfilling career at Mountain Bell. After Roberta and Dale retired, they moved back to her hometown of Lander, Wyoming.
Roberta enjoyed taking daily morning walks, watching her favorite shows, visiting with friends and family, sewing, and quilting. Over the years, she sewed and gifted a variety of quilts to her family. Roberta was a devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church and assisted with church services for several years.
Roberta loved spending time with all her family. She enjoyed being hostess at family gatherings and celebrating the holidays with her family, specifically the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. She had eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Roberta believed the best part of having children and grandchildren was “the joy of them being yours.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Abbey and Robert Hamilton, her husband Dale Palmer, and her siblings, Loy Aho, Dick and Bill Hamilton.
Roberta is survived by her sister, Ethelyn St. John; her sons: Tex (Iva) LeClair, Richard (Joanne) LeClair, Kenneth (Marvi) LeClair, James LeClair; her grandchildren: Brett (Leslie) LeClair, Adam (Tyler) LeClair, Joelee LeClair, Danielle LeClair, Zachary LeClair, Kayla LeClair, Aaron LeClair, Nathan (Angelica) LeClair, Amanda (Martin) LeClair-Diaz, Olivia (Philip) LeClair Kim, Eleanor (Matthew) LeClair-Lighthall; her great-grandchildren: Eméri LeClair, Raef LeClair, Knox LeClair, and Freya Kim; and her extended family: the Hamiltons, the Ecklunds, the Palms, the Potters, the LeClairs, and the Megeaths.
