Robert L. Jackson, 96, of Lander passed away on April 26, 2014 at the Kindred Health and rehabilitation center Wind River, in Riverton, Wyoming.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Hudson's Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Hope with Pastor Mark Calhoun officiating.Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander.
Robert was born on December 9, 1917 in Lander.He was the oldest child of R.L. and Cora (Elliott) Jackson.He was raised in rural Lander, mainly of the ranch in Sinks Canyon.His grade school education was completed at the Barners Garden School.He graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School in 1936.
After High School, Robert worked at the ranch and neighboring ranches.He also shot on the Wyoming Civilian Rifle team.He served with the team to Camp Perry, Ohio from 1938-1940.
On November 9, 1941 Robert married Frances M. Scott, Robert and Frances had four children, three boys and one daughter.
Robert was employed by Riverton Valley Electric Association from 1949-1979.After retiring, he took over the running of the family ranch.Besides ranching, he started making hit-n-mis gas engines.These he displayed at the annual Wind River Flywheelers Show.
Robert is survived by his children, John (Merle) Jackson of Cheyenne, Wy, Fred(Tonuia) of Nevada and Ann Jackson of Lander.Seven Grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Frances, his eldest son Lt. Robert M. Jackson his parents, and siblings Billy, Elliot, Elanor, Kathryn and Joan.Memorials made be directed to Wind River Flywheelers, P.O.
