Robert “Bobby” J. Harris

September 7, 1967 - August 28, 2026

Robert “Bobby” J. Harris tragically passed away on August 28, 2026, following an ATV accident.

Bobby spent most of his life in Riverton, Wyoming, though he also lived for a time in Casper, Wyoming. Throughout his working years, he worked on drilling rigs in several different states, as a heavy equipment operator, and as a truck driver. At the time of his passing, Bobby was employed with BTI Trucking in Riverton.

Bobby was formerly married to Shawna Longtine. Together, they had one son, Ty Harris, and a stepson, James Barrows.

Bobby had a deep love for his son, Ty, as well as for his family and friends. He was rarely without a big grin on his face and was always ready with a joke, a smart comment, or something to make those around him laugh. There was never a shortage of humor when Bobby was around—or at least, he certainly didn’t think so.

Bobby loved farming, ranching, outdoors, and the Wyoming way of life. He especially enjoyed living on his family homestead, where he spent time raising cattle and farming alongside his brother, Jed and cousin Butch. The homestead, the land, the animals, and the life he shared there with his family meant a great deal to him.

Bobby was also a true dog lover and had a special place in his heart for his beloved dogs, Vandel, Tator, and Spot. Vandel, who preceded him in death, was a treasured companion and remained very special to Bobby. Tator and Spot were deeply loved and brought him companionship, loyalty, laughter, and countless good memories. To Bobby, his dogs were family.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Frank Harris; grandparents, Tom Withrow, Jo Withrow, Leroy Harris, and Vera Harris; aunt, Alice Harris; uncle, Darrell Withrow; and beloved dog, Vandel.

He is survived by son, Ty Harris; mother, Laura Harris; sister, Sherry Andersen and husband, Willie Andersen; niece, Launa Grubb and family; nephew, Arron Andersen and family; brother, Jed Harris and wife, Cindy Harris; nephew, Levi Harris and family; niece, Lindsey Taylor and family; cousin Butch Barrows; beloved dogs, Tator and Spot; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Bobby will be remembered for his big smile, his sense of humor, his deep love for Ty, his family and friends, his devotion to his dogs, and his love of farming, ranching and the outdoors. He lived life with a little bit of mischief, plenty of humor, and a deep appreciation for the people, animals, and places he loved.

His presence will be greatly missed, but the laughter, stories, and memories Bobby leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date to be determined.
