Robert G. Freese, known by his friends and loved ones as "Frosty" died March 7, 2010. Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time
Frosty was born in Lander on August 7, 1929 to the proud parents of Lloyd Walter (Pete) Freese and Ruth Leseberg, both of whom preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his older brother Richard (Dick) Freese and step-parents Fred Leseberg and Mollie Freese.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and rock hunting as well as being an avid antique collector. He worked briefly in Pinedal e, Wyoming at his father's cattle ranch and worked on the Grand Coulee Dam in Washington before returning to Lander where he entered the service. He was sent to Korea and spent his military time as a sniper during the Korean War.
After his discharge he returned to Lander and met and married Wyoma June Meeks. He went to work at U.S. Steel shortly after it was built and remained there for 22 years until the mine closed down.
Frosty loved his family and friends and enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to hunt and fish. He is survived by his wife Wyoma, daughter, Kristy Freese, sister Eva May Peden, brother in-law Don Peden and sister in-law, Marion Henry. Also surviving are 5 grandsons, Robert and Ryan Herbst, Joshua, Johnathon and Zack Robinson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
