Traditional Indian Funeral services for Rex A. Coando, 61 will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday August 15, at his residence with Harrison "Bunny" Shoyo & Arlen Shoyo officiating. Interment will be in the Sacajawea Cemetery. A traditional evening service and wake will be at 7 pm Tuesday, August 14 at his residence 713 Tinnebea Dr with Harrison "Bunny" Shoyo officiating.
Mr. Coando died on Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Lander Regional Hospital from injuries he sustained from a motorcycle accident.
Rex Alan Coando was born in Fort Washakie, WY on February 7, 1951to Herman Coando and Iva McAdams. He attended high school in Roosevelt, UT, Weber State College, Utah Technical College and Westminster Police Academy, UT. He served in the US Army from 1971 to 1973.
He married Juanita Sanchez in January 1974. Together they had three children Mark, Cristie and James.
At the time of his death he had been employed with the Eastern Shoshone Utilities Organization as a Water Systems Operator for 7 years. He was currently serving as a Board Member for the Eastern Shoshone Housing Authority Board.
His family said Mr. Coando enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, taking his boat out on the lake, riding his motorcycles, watching a good basketball game and being around his family.
Mr. Coando is survived by his wife, Juanita, daughter, Cristie Coando, son, James Coando, grandsons, Brian and Brett Roanhorse, Antonio Coando, Carlos and Juan Herrera. Granddaughters, Juanita Coando of Fort Hall, ID, Sierra Herrera and Nona Coando. Great Grandson, Jonathan Roanhorse. Brothers, Herman & Berta Coando of Gilroy California, Clayton Coando, Lonnie Hendricks Fort Washakie WY, Dave Hendricks Murray UT, John & Marilyn Sanderson Vernal UT, Sisters, Hermalee Coando Evertte WA, Trudi Coando Fort Washakie WY, Barbara Ryan Mona UT. Uncle, Oren "Butch" McAdmas Fort Washakie WY, Aunt, Midge McAdams Vernal UT.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Coando, parents, Herman Coando and Iva McAdams Hendricks, brothers, Charles "Tuna" Hendricks, Guy Hendricks, Virgil Coando, Pat Coando, sister, Laura Sanderson.
