Raymond Dean Hahn, of Riverton, passed away on October 26, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, November 2nd at the Chapel of Mount Hope in Hudson's Funeral Home.
Raymond Dean Hahn, Son of Virgil B. Hahn and Olive R. Hahn (Brownmiller), was born in Quimby, Iowa the summer of 1932. He graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee, Iowa in 1950. While he was involved in theatre and boxing through school, his greatest passion was dancing.
It was just one simple dance in 1950 at the Cobble Stone Inn, Storm Lake, Iowa, that truly began the happiest days of his life when he met Jean Morse, daughter of Warren and Georgia Morse. After two years of courting, the two were wed in August of 1952. Ray was then drafted by the United States Army to be stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict, as a forward command over a field artillery unit.
After his tour was complete, Ray enrolled in Long Beach State University and completed his bachelors degree. While beginning his teaching career, Ray furthered his education at Pepperdine University, UCLA, and UC Irvine, to complete his doctorate degree; all while helping raise their three kids with Jean. He spent the next 20 years as a teacher, counselor, and professor of Geography throughout Southern California.
Ray's next journey in life started when he brought his family to Riverton, Wyoming, where he and his brother purchased Wind River Ready Mix in 1976. After running a successful concrete business for 30 years, he was able to spend 21 winters with his wife in McAllen, Texas; only to return for the summer months.
Ray was a truly passionate man and loved with his whole heart. With his passing, this world has lost a tremendous asset and he will be deeply missed by those he has left behind.
He is survived by his wife Jean of 64 years, brother Donald Hahn and wife Delores, son Daniel Hahn and wife Janelle of Lander, daughter Debbie Crowder and husband Laramie of Riverton, and daughter Kimberly Yennie and husband Gerald of Kinnear. Grandchildren; Joshua Hahn and wife Hannah, Amber Amos and husband Chris, Audra Nisely and husband Jason, Adam Jondal and wife Ginny, Alexis Baker and husband Matthew, Ashlynn Yennie and boyfriend Michael, Melissa Hahn and boyfriend Gunnar.
