Raymond Newton Fuller

February 21, 1918 — May 10, 2009

Our husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and great-grandfather Raymond Fuller passed away quietly in his sleep at home on May 10, 2009.

Ray was born February 21, 1918 in Lander, Wyoming. He was the son of Milton and Gladys Fuller and had one brother Robert, and two Sisters, Margie (Nipper) and Maxine (Shumway). Ray Graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School in 1936, and was a lifelong resident of Lander.,

In 1941 he quit his job at the US Post Office and enlisted in the US Army ahead of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He had been assigned to the Horse Cavalry Replacement Training Center but with the attack on Pearl Harbor he was reassigned to the 36 th Infantry Division at Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Here he received his commission and later shipped out to North Africa to serve in the African campaign.   He lost his right eye to a land mine in a training exercise and returned to the US for recuperation and rehabilitation.

In 1945 he returned to Lander and resumed working at the Post Office. It was here that he met Genevieve Trent and the two eloped, marrying in Worland September 21, 1948. They had two children, Patricia and David. Ray retired from the US Postal Service in 1979. After retirement he drove a school bus, the Senior Citizens bus, was a board member for the Nursing Home and Mountain Vista Retirement Center. He was a member of the Historical Society, NARFE, and the American Legion. He was actively involved with the Methodist Church and served tirelessly in the Methodist Thrift Shop.

Ray is survived by his wife, Genevieve, daughter Patrica, son David, five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a role model and a gentleman to all who knew him. He loved helping people, collecting "stuff" in case he might need it someday, and horses.

He lived his life to ensure that others enjoyed theirs.
