Ray E. Guthridge of Lander died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at his home
after a brief illness. He was 92 years old.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, March 23, 2013 2:00PM
at the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home.
Ray E. Guthridge was born June 26, 1920 in Weedpatch, California. He
was the only son of six children of David Monroe Guthridge and Annie
(Paty) Guthridge.
He graduated from high school in Bakersfield, Ca. He served in the U.S.
Navy from May, 1942 to September, 1945. Most of his service time was on
the Attu Islands off the coast of Alaska.
Ray married Esther May Fraser in January, 1942. They had four children
together. They moved to Wyoming to start a homestead in North Portal in
1950.
The family moved to Lander in 1964 where Ray began his 26 year career
with the Wyoming Game and Fish. He worked the construction crews for
many years before starting the Government Surplus program which
provided needed supplies for the Game and Fish employees. He retired in
1986.
His wife Esther died in January, 1996, after a long illness. They had been
married 54 years.
He married Ruth Clement in Laughlin, Nevada.They resided in Lander
and were married for 1 7 years until his death.
Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, and rock hunting. But most of all spending
time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, children Ray E Guthridge Jr. and wife
Sharyn; Susan Beliaj and husband Walt; David Guthridge and wife Krista;
and Sharlee Bun. His eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be mailed to Amedisys Hospice Care in Lander, WY, or any Charity of your choice. Services are under the direction of Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander.
