Pauline (Polly) Marie Wolbaugh Baker
November 17, 1934 — March 22, 2017
Pauline (Polly) Marie Wolbaugh Baker died at home in Lander on March 22, 2017 at the age of 82. She had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Visitation will be at Hudson's Funeral Home from 5-7p.m. on Monday, March 27th. Funeral Services will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28th with burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Polly was born on November 17, 1934 in Vermillion, Ohio, to Clayton Frank and Alice Marguerite Baker Wolbaugh and grew up in Wooster, Ohio.
When she was in 7th grade she noticed a tall 8th-grade boy named Dallas Kramer Baker and caught his eye. They were married on December 26, 1952 in Wooster, Ohio. Over the next two decades Polly moved with Dallas from coast to coast to coast as his Navy career proceeded, living in Portsmouth, VA, Somerset, KY, Alameda, CA, Jacksonville, FL, and Greeley, CO, finally moving to Lander in May of 2000. With each move, one of Polly's first concerns was to find the nearest Lutheran Church for the family to attend. Polly enjoyed her church communities and also taught Sunday school for many years.
Polly was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Lander and worked as a volunteer at the gift shop in Sage West Lander Hospital. She had previously enjoyed volunteer work with the Greeley Interfaith Association, Weld County Clothing Bank and Weld County Food Bank in Greeley, CO.
She is survived by her husband, Dallas Baker, and children, Lynda Baker and Charles Baker, all of Lander, along with 6 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister Hazel Grace Wolbaugh and niece Tamara Jeanne Wolbaugh Steinmiller.
