Patsy Joan Burks

Patsy Joan Burks, 87, of Lander, passed away on January 5, 2017 at Westward Heights. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on January 27th at Westward Heights located at 150 Caring Way in Lander. A second Memorial service in Texas will be announced at a later date.

Patsy Joan was born November 6, 1929 to Tom Poindexter and Myrtle Johnson in Oplin, Texas.

Patsy worked from the time she was young, by helping her family on their farm plowing with horse/tractor, planting, picking cotton, and taking care of the farm animals. Patsy loved sports in high school and graduated from school.She worked selling clothing and she was a real estate agent. Her first job was working for a lawyer.

Patsy married Nelson Burks on May 17, 1947. She lived in Farmington, New Mexico; Oplin, Texas; Novice, Texas; Lander, Wyoming; Rock Springs, Wyoming; and Coleman, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Burks; her mother and father; and a little brother.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherron (Sherry) McLennan; son-in-law, Bob McLennan; grandchildren, Mac McLennan (Deb), JoAnna Booth (Dale); great- grandchildren, Dalton J. Booth and Kodie Jo Booth, Jean Bleyer (Denny); and many dear friends, and cousins.
