On August 7, 2025 Nancy Irene (Douglas) Stone passed away peacefully at the age of 82. Nancy was born on July 31, 1943 in Pekin, IL to John Owen and Ruth Douglas. She spent her childhood in Creve Cour, IL with siblings George Douglas and Rowena (Douglas) Altic.
Nancy married Terrence David Stone on September 23, 1962 in East Peoria, IL. Terry and Nancy resided most of their married life in Waynesville, IL where they raised their two children, Norman and Amanda. Nancy was an active member of the United Methodist Church and a regular fixture in the Waynesville Women's Club.
In 2012, Nancy and Terry moved to Riverton, WY where they have enjoyed camping and hiking. Nancy was active in the United Methodist Church in Riverton. She also became dedicated to the Quilts of Valor organization, where she produced dozens of quilts that were lovingly awarded to US veterans through QOV and Hunting for Heroes. She contributed many other quilts to various charities, including Special Olympics. Nancy was also a gifted crafter, making hundreds of greeting cards for her friends and family over the years. She never missed an opportunity to make someone's day brighter with a card, a chocolate cake, a cherry pie, or just an encouraging word.
Nancy's greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether it was baseball, marching band, school programs, volleyball, or Special Olympics, Nancy was there. She is survived by her husband Terry, son Norman Stone (Sherri), daughter Amanda Murrell (Bill), granddaughters Linsay Stone (Derek), Kaleigh England (Andy), Megan Golden (Clay), grandson Nathan Murrell, and 3 great-granddaughters Layla and Mari Golden and Millie England (arriving soon.)
There is no service planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westward Heights Care Center, 150 Caring Way, Lander, WY 82520 or to the Waynesville United Methodist Church, 202 S Isham St, Waynesville, IL 61778.
