Traditional funeral services for Michael Lee Wagon will be at 10:00 am Saturday, September. 8, 2007 at the Rocky Mountain Hall, in Ft. Washakie, with interment to follow at the Friday Cemetery in Ethete, Wyoming. There will be a viewing at the Rocky Mountain Hall, from 4-9 PM with services at the Rocky Mountain Hall at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 7, 2007. Following the services at the Hall, Mr. Wagon will be taken to his home at 237 Willow Street in Ethete until the services.
Mr. Wagon died at the Morning Star Manor in Fort Washakie, Tuesday September 4, 2007 after a lengthy illness. He was 49 years old.
Michael Lee Wagon was born on October 22, 1957, to David Wagon of Riverton, WY and Doris Wagon of Ethete, WY. He attended Northside elementary, Starrett Jr. High, Lander Valley High School, and BIA Chilocco Indian School in Arkansas, He also graduated from the Haskell Indian College and the University of Wyoming. Mr. Wagon worked for the Riverton Ranger, Eagle Uniform, Fort Washakie Post Office, Indian Health Services, Shoshone Assistance Program, and various other jobs while living in Denver, Co. Mr Wagon served in the Air Force in 1975, and was honorably discharged. His family said he enjoyed hunting, fishing, participating in the Shoshone Sundances, enjoyed riding horses, playing his trumpet in the school bands and college bands, working on crossword puzzles, putting puzzles together, and watching TV.
He is survived by his parents, David Wagon, Sr. of Riverton, and Doris Wagon of Ethete; brother, Gary Wagon of Ethete; sister, Sharon Wagon of Fort Washakie; children, Amanda Wagon and Allison Faye Wagon of Winterhaven, CA., Chelsea and Robert Wagon of Ethete; niece, Marisa Wagon; nephew, Donny Wagon; grandchildren, Michael Enos, James Wagon, and Sienna Wagon; aunts, Rose Braman of Fort Hall, ID, Lena Aaron and Rose Niedo of Fort Washakie, Charlotte White, Mary Oldman and Shirley Yellowhair all of Ethete, Shyrle Piper, Matilda Braman, Kaye Niedo, Alicia Cook, Lavonne Roan Horse, Bernadette Shoyo, Catherine Standing Rock, Augustine Teton, Harrison Shoyo, Jr., Arlen Shoyo, William Wagon, Clint Wagon, Gilbert Jarvis, Chester Pingree, Sr., and numerous other relatives and friends of Fort Washakie
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Roger and Matilda Wagon, Martin and Susan Armour; aunts, Alvena Wagon Teton, Anna M. Pingree Shoyo, Susette Wagon, Betty Armour; uncles, Roger Wagon, Sr., James Wagon, Martin Armour, Jr., Calvin Pingree; brother, Donald Keith Wagon, David Wagon, Jr.; cousin, Jennie Armour; and daughter, Robyn Wagon.
