Meldon Donald Hill, Sr

April 24, 1951 — January 27, 2025

Fort Washakie

Meldon Donald Hill Sr (73) made his journey on January 27, 2025, at home surrounded by family. The Wake will be 7pm, Friday, January 31, 2025 in the Rocky Mountain Hall, Fort Washakie, Wyoming. Meldon was born April 28, 1951 in Fort Washakie to Gladys St.Clair-Hill and Donald Hill. The youngest of eight boys and one younger sister.

Meldon was given the nick name of Red (Ingy) by his uncle Herman. Meldon attended elementary school at Fort Washakie, High School at Lander Valley and Flandreau Indian Boarding School. Colleges attended, Central Wyoming College, Idaho State University, St. Mary in North Dakota. The Denver Mechanics Trade School. He did farming and ranching all his life, until he got sick. Meldon worked all aspects of fire-fighting, construction, moving houses, and oil field work.

Meldon loved the outdoors; hiking, fishing, horseback riding, avid hunter and being a guide at times. Horn hunting every spring, cutting firewood every August & September for his brothers and families. He traipsed the Wind River and Owl Creek mountain ranges from one end to the other. He also enjoyed playing pool, watching westerns, leatherwork, watching all sorts of sports, and cheered for any team playing against the Denver, Broncos.

Those of you who knew Ingy all have your own stories. He was a hell raiser in his younger days. Once he got older you couldn't pay him to break the law. We were the luckiest to have him on this earth for 73 years.

He loved his grandsons and took great pride in teaching them. Teaching them to drive on Washakie park road, how to shoot a gun, how to run power tools, how to cook, among other things. He loved to support his kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, in all they did.  Meldon was strong in his Indian beliefs, sweats, ceremonies, and Sundances.

Meldon is survived by his wife of 44 years, Reva Hill. Children Kammi, Meldonna, Gladys (Cheryl), Noland (Drenda), and Meldon Jr. (Tammi).
