Martha Lou (Harris) Massey passed away peacefully on June 12, 2009 at her home in Worland, Wyoming with her life long companion by her side. She was 70 years old.
Born on December 27, 1938 in Fort Washakie, Wyoming to Fred and Rose Harris, Martha grew up on the Wind River Indian Reservation. She was a member of the Eastern Shoshone tribe. She moved away from the reservation shortly after graduating high school. She worked for many years as a waitress and bartender in many small towns around the state of Wyoming. After settling in Worland she met her life long companion, Bill Pollack. She enjoyed playing cards, spending time with her friends and family. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her companion of 20 years, Bill Pollack; her son Forrest (Gus) Harris Sr. and wife Colleen of Gillette, Wyoming; her granddaughter July (Harris) Lockhart and husband Mike and their three children, of Gillette, Wyoming; her grandson Forrest (Bowdie) Harris, Jr. and his companion Myranda and their son, of Gillette, Wyoming; her mother Rose Harris of Sage Creek, Wyoming; brother Dwayne (Swede) Harris and wife Jean of Sage Creek, Wyoming; along with numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father Fred Harris Sr., brother Fred (Muck) Harris Jr., numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, and one niece.
A Rosary service will be held on Wednesday, June 17th at 7:00 pm at Hudson Funeral Home in Lander, Wyoming. Catholic services will be held on Thursday, June 18th at 10:00 am at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic church in Fort Washakie, Wyoming. Burial to follow at Chief Washakie Cemetery.
