Funeral Services for Mark Alan Coando, 34 will be Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Shoshone Episcopal Mission at Fort Washakie with Father Tommy Means Officiating. Interment will be in the Sacajawea Cemetery.
A Traditional Evening Service and wake will be Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at his residence 1560 Paintbrush Loop at 7:00 p.m. with Harrison "Bunny" Shoyo Jr. and Arlen Shoyo Officiating.
Mr. Coando died May 31, 2009 at the Lander Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Bountiful, Utah on July 27,1974, the son of Rex and Juanita (Sanchez) Coando.
He attended schools at Fort Washakie, Lander Valley High School, & Fort Lewis College in Durango Colorado.
At the time of his death he was employed with the Shoshone and Arapaho Tribes, Wind River Materials Lab as a Materials Technician II for 11 years.
His family said Mark loved being in the outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his children and his friends. Basketball was his passion in his younger years, he played high school ball and in open tournaments throughout the states. He enjoyed watching his son and his nephews play. He was also artistic and liked to draw.
He is survived by his parents, companion Illa St.Clair, son Antonio Coando, daughters Nona Coando & Juanita Coando of Fort Hall, Idaho, sister Cristie (Juan) Herrera, brother James Coando, nephews Brian & Brett Roanhorse, Carlos & Juan Jr Herrera, niece Sierra Herrera, grandmother Victoria Sanchez of Salt Lake City Utah, uncles Herman (Velberta) Coando of California, Dave Hendricks of Salt Lake City Utah, John (Marilyn) Sanderson of Vernal Utah, Duane Sanchez of Salt Lake City Utah, Clayton Coando,& Lonnie Hendricks, Aunts Hermalee Coando of Washington, Barbara Craig of Mona Utah, Trudi Coando, Roberta (Rick) Sanchez of Salt Lake City Utah, Elizabeth (Ivan) Velasquez of Salt Lake City Utah, Rebecca (Fred) Padilla of Salt Lake City Utah, Donna (Mark) Pendleton of Salt Lake City Utah, Amy (Floyd) Sanchez of Salt Lake City Utah, Beverly Sanchez of Salt Lake City Utah, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by grandfathers John Sanchez & Herman Coando, grandmother Iva McAdams Hendricks, uncles Guy Hendricks, Charles "Tuna" Hendricks, Virgil Coando & Pat Coando, aunt Laura Moran Sanderson.
