Mark Daniel Baron

Mark Daniel Baron, 65, of Lander, WY died peacefully while in hospice at one in the morning of June 18, 2026 at The Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO after complications from sudden severe acute pancreatitis and over 2 months in ICU. Mark Daniel was born on November 18,1960 to Julian Joseph Baron and Dorothy Ray Michel in Rock Springs, WY. He was the third of seven children. Growing up, he lived in many towns across Wyoming, Colorado and Montana with his family eventually settling in Moorcroft, WY in 1970.

Mark graduated from High School in Moorcroft, WY in 1979. He went on to attend Casper College in Casper, WY completing a one-year technical program in welding and metal fabrication in 1980. Next, he completed a BS in Agricultural Engineering at the University of Wyoming in Laramie in December of 1984, followed by a master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering in May of 1989. Mark went on to become a PhD candidate at Penn State University. He worked many jobs, including work as a research assistant, a general contractor, a staff engineer, and an insurance agent. Mark moved the family to Lander, WY in 2000, where he worked as Southwest District Professional Engineer for the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality: Water Quality Division until his retirement in December 2024.

Mark met his wife, Carol Ann Kondziela, at the National Catholic Student Coalition in Wichita, KS, in December 1989 and married Carol on August 10, 1991, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Erie, Pennsylvania. This sacramental union was blessed with seven children. Mark was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus since age 18, participating in councils in Wyoming and Pennsylvania. At the time of his death, Mark was a member of the Father Martin Kennedy Council affiliated with Holy Rosary Parish in Lander, WY. Mark became a Fourth Degree, Sir Knight in 1992 in Pennsylvania. Mark was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. He was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mark was dedicated to his family. He advocated for life and the unborn. He was active and interested in local and state government.

Mark is survived by his wife, Carol, six children: Philip Baron of Denver, CO, Katharine (Ryan) Alexander (Blaise Aquinas, Penelope Clare) of Springdale, AR, Maria Baron of Englewood, CO, Anne Baron of Laramie, WY, Jessica Baron of Lander, WY, and James Baron also of Lander, WY, two grandchildren, six siblings: Joseph (Tamara) Baron, Thomas (Mary Jane) Baron, Maylee (Leon) Kanode, Charles (Joy) Baron, John (Renata) Baron, Patrick (Rebecca) Baron, as well as numerous extended family.

Mark was preceded in death by his second child, born preterm, and his parents.

The family wishes to thank all those who prayed and offered their support around the time of Mark’s illness.

Visitation will be at 6 PM on Friday, June 26, 2026, followed by a Prayer/Rosary Vigil at 7 PM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 163 Leedy Drive, Lander, WY

Visitation will be at 9 am on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Holy Rosary Church, with a funeral mass at 10 AM, followed by burial at Mount Hope Cemetery, Lander, WY

A luncheon will follow the burial at Boeseke Hall, Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
