Marilyn Van Vleet died Friday, December 14, 2012 in Riverton following a battle with cancer. She was 67 years old.
Cremation has taken place. Services are at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec 21, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lander, WY. A rosary will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec 20 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Marilyn Jean Putnam was born April 10, 1945 in Rawlins, Wyoming, the daughter of Edward C. & Leona F. Putnam. She was raised in Rawlins and later moved to Lander, Wyoming. She married Victor Van Vleet on October 18, 1982. The couple resided in Hudson, Wyoming and had one daughter and one son.
When their children were young, Marilyn was a stay at home mom. When they were older, she went to work for the Town of Hudson as the town Clerk and later went to work for the City of Lander in the water billing department.
Her family says she enjoyed writing letters, reading mystery books, playing cards at the Van Vleet family reunions, and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed doing genealogy for both the Putnam and Van Vleet family.
She is survived by her son John Van Vleet of Hudson WY; daughter Jennifer Titus and husband Andy of Riverton, WY; Step-Son David Van Vleet and wife Tammy of Wright, WY; Step-Son Jamie Van Vleet and wife Heather of Lander, WY; Sister Lucille Williams of Fresno, CA; Sister Kathleen Muench and husband Ron of Phoenix AZ; brother Ed Putnam and wife Donna of San Jose CA; one granddaughter of Riverton Wy; five step-grand children and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vic Van Vleet and her parents Edward and Leona Putnam
