Marcene Carlbom White
October 25, 1920 — April 23, 2017
In loving memory of, Marcene Carlbom White. Marcene was 96 years young, born October 25, 1920 in Pierre, South Dakota to Frances and Albert Carlbom. She passed from this earth to her Heavenly home on April 23, 2017 in Lander, Wyoming. She grew up and went to school in Interior, South Dakota, graduating in 1937. After graduation she met Glenn Eldon White, and they were married October 7, 1939 in Rapid City, South Dakota. They lived on a ranch in the Marcus, South Dakota area for a short time and then moved to the Black Hills. They had two sons, Wally born in 1945, and Pat born in 1948.
In 1952 the Whites moved to Springfield, Missouri, where Glenn attended Central Bible College and became an ordained Assembly of God minister. In 1955 they moved to Glendo, Wyoming where they started and pastored a church. In the next years they pastored churches in Lander, Ethete, Lodge Pole, Montana, and Harlem, Montana. Marcene worked as school secretary at Mill Creek School from 1958 until 1966. Glenn passed away in Harlem, October 1973. Marcene moved back to Lander in 1974 where she worked various jobs as a secretary at Fremont Counseling, a medical transcriptionist at Wyoming State Training School, Meals on Wheels Aide at the Lander Senior Center, and as a volunteer Foster Grandma at West Elementary.
Marcene was preceded in death by two infant brothers, her husband Glenn, her mother, her father, and one great grandson. She is survived by sons, Wally (Carolyn) of Powell and Pat (Edna) of Lander. One granddaughter Jackie (Neil) Barnette of North Platte, Nebraska, four grandsons: Scot (Julie) White of Powell; Shane (Wendy) White, Wade (KariLynn) White, and Trever (Ronna) White all of Lander and eleven great grandchildren and many wonderful friends.
Per her request, cremation has taken place and her remains will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City, South Dakota at a later date.
