Mabel Grace Chisholm
was born August 24, 1923, to Amelia and James
T.
Chisholm
at
Shoshoni,
Wyoming
. She attended Lander Vocation High
School
, graduating in 1941.
Mabel took over Chisholm's Jewelry Store in 1975
from her mother. Chisholm's
Jewelry was established at Lander by
Mabel's mother in 1936. The business
was moved from Riverton, Wyoming.
Mabel married Edward
Anesi
in 1946. He was a
building contractor and
was killed in a train accident
at Casper in June, 1967. Mabel loved
to
fly, and she
and Mr. Anesi used their first
Piper Airplane on business
trips
in Wyoming. She
held a commercial pilot rating with
over 50
years
of flying.
Mabel married Howard
Blakely
about 1983. They
worked
together in the jewelry
store until his death
in
1998.
Mabel was an accomplished
watchmaker
and loved to
buy
and
sell
jewelry and
watches. Mabel loved to
give to
her community.
She served
as
both a
member and chair of the airport board
in Lander. Mabel made an endowment
of a nursing scholarship at Central
Wyoming
College
and has helped 35 nursing students to obtain their degrees. She served on the Board
of
several
banks
as
well
as
numerous other civic organizations. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Thi Sorority – Laureate Upsilom chapter. She attended First Baptist Church of Lander.
She
was
predeceased by her
parents and her sister, Josephine
Milburn. She is
survived by her brother, George Chisholm, step-son

Blakely ,
step-
grandchildren, Chad Blakely and Heather Voyles
,
and
two
great-
grandchildren Grace and Harrison, nephews
Jay
Chisholm and
Ralph Bille, and nieces,
Janice Chisholm, Joyce
Chisholm, and
Mary
Jo
Fehr.
Mabel Blakely passed away on September 5, 2008. Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 12, 2008 @ 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Lander. Visitation will be Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 4pm to 7pm at Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander.
