Lyle Donoven, of Lander, died Monday, July 7, 2014, at his home after being diagnosed with cancer in September.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, at Hudson's Funeral Home in Lander.
Lyle Donoven was born July 15, 1937, in Havre, Mont., the son of Jack Loyd Donoven and Beatrice Irene (Knutson). He was raised in the Kremlin, Mont. Area and graduated from Kremlin High School in 1956.
In 1956, he married Arlene Pursley, and they raised two sons and two daughters. They later divorced.
Mr. Donoven worked as a farmer and rancher along the Hi-Line in northern Montana, living in the rural Montana communities of Kremlin, Shelby, Turner, Malta and Whitewater.
In 1979, he and Jane Anich moved to Lander where he began working in the oilfields. He owned and operated his own water supply delivery business for many years. Instead of retiring, he returned to a farm and ranch life by working for farmers in the Lander area.
His family said he had many friends who often met at the Palimino Garage and they enjoyed playing practical jokes on one another.
He is survived by Martha Jane Anich of Lander; brother Keith Donoven (Marlene) of Havre, Mont.; daughters Kay Cavanaugh (Jim) of Bozeman, Mont. and Jan McElvany (Doug) of Arlington, Texas; sons Dennis Donoven (Joyce) of Kremlin, Mont., and Dale Donoven (Cheryl) of Trenton, N.D.; grandchildren Tanisha Cavanaugh, Deven Donoven, Darby Donoven, Desirae Stanford, Lyle Donoven (Kelcey), Nic Donoven (Lori), Julia Donoven and Rian Owens (Kayla); eight great-grandchildren; and Jane's children, Mary Lou, George Anich (Mary) and Philip Anich (Debbie) and their families.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Dallas, his parents, and his brother Earl.
