Funeral services for Leota Adele LaJeunesse of Fort Washakie will take place on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 10am at the Shoshone Episcopal Mission at Fort Washakie. A feast and giveaway will follow the burial on Tuesday at the Rocky Mountain Hall.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm with Traditional Indian and Church Services will be held on Monday evening at 7 pm, also to take place at the Shoshone Episcopal Mission, with Father Richard Mendez officiating.
Mrs. LaJeunesse was born on March 5, 1947 andpassed away on Friday, December 10, 2010, with her family by her side. She was 63 years old. She will be remembered for her courage and strength during her courageous battle with cancer. Her family said that Leota enjoyed sports, and was an outstanding basketball and softball player. She worked at the Fort Washakie Elementary School for 31 years, where she held various positions. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. She served for several years on the Bishop's committee as Secretary for the Shoshone Episcopal Mission.
She is survived by her husband, Gary, and their two sons Brett and wife Felicia; Neal and wife Denise. She had 9 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Velma Chavez and family, Harlene LeBeau and family, Lucille Foote and family, Bernadette Oberly and family, Bonnie Washakie and family, Violet LaJeunesse and family, Iva LeClair and family; as well as her brothers Reuben St. Clair and family, William St. Clair and family, John St. Clair and family as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Wallace and Winnie St. Clair, brothers Stanford and Wallace H. St. Clair.
