Leonard E. Stensaas, Jr.
Lander, Wyoming – Leonard (Lanny) E. Stensaas, Jr., 78 of Lander, Wyoming, died Friday, November 1, 2013 peacefully at home with family by his side.
He was born June 26, 1935 in Limon, Colorado to Leonard E. Stensaas, Sr. and Charlotte Jane Willson.Leonard was a graduate of Rock Springs High School and the University of Wyoming.He served during the Korean Conflict in Germany in the Army Security Agency. He married Norma Jean Sinesio,in August of 1959.Later they divorced.
Leonard was a man with many varied interests.He spent time as an industrial arts educator, part owner of Rock Springs Monument Company with family,
he also owned Evanston Aviation and a photography business until moving to Lander, Wyoming in the late 1980's.He then was the Safety Officer at the Wyoming State Training School until his retirement.He also became and EMT and thoroughly enjoyed that for thirteen years. While working as an EMT he invented and owned The Ultimate Hot Pack Company and grew that business for many years.
Leonard's interests were as varied as his jobs.He was a city councilman in Rock Springs for eight years, after moving to Lander he was involved with the International Stage Stop Sled Dog Race for many years.He was an avid snowmobiler and belonged to the Lander Snowmobile Club.He loved drawing on napkins, welding, camping, and spending time in the outdoors and his family.
He is survived by his wife Marty of Lander, Wyoming. Daughters, Lorna Bath and husband John of Rock Springs, Amy Magagna of Santa Clara, California, and son Erik and wife Kristy of Brandon, Mississippi.Step-daughter Jan Sears and husband Scott of Casper, Wyoming.Grandchildren – Erika Magagna, Zach Bath, Brayden and Emma Stensaas, Josh White and Ryan Minor, Chad White and Jake Sears.One brother; Joe and wife Terry of Big Timber, Mt.One sister; Debra Kinniburgh and husband Scott of Saratoga, Wyoming.Brother in-law Dennis Miller of Lander, Wyoming.Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Charlotte Stensaas, and Marge Stensaas.
A visitation has been arranged on Monday, November 4, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home, Lander Wyoming.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home.Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Lander.
