Larry Dell Ratliff, 77, passed away peacefully November 8th, 2016, at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, following a lengthy illness. Services will be held at the Chapel of Mount Hope in Hudson's Funeral Home at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 15th, 2016, with a reception to follow.Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday evening, November 14th, 2016.
Larry was born in Douglas, Wyoming December 20th, 1938.He graduated from Morton High School in 1957, and then attended Casper College.After college, he joined the US Navy, and he served our country for 20 years, as an electrician.He served many tours aboard several ships, and was an advisor for the South Vietnamese during the Viet Nam War.He retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer 1st Class in 1978.
Larry and Dolores were married in 1979, in Lander, and they both worked at US Steel.After the mine closed, they moved to Green River, and he worked at Texas Gulf Trona Mine, where he eventually retired.Larry and Dolores lived in Lander and Torrington, until Dolores passed away February 28th, 2010, then Larry moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming shortly after.
Larry's passions were his grandchildren, woodworking, hunting and his dogs he had over the years, Panda, Kadie and Dakota.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Zella and James Ratliff, his wife Dolores Ratliff, his brother Danny Ratliff, two stepsons John Blust and Brian Blust, and grandson Eric Ellis.
He is survived by his sisters, Billie (Doug) Hardy of Arizona, and Geraldine (John) Dewey of Riverton, Wyoming, two sons Shannon (Yvonne) Ratliff of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Frank (Tonie) Ratliff of Lander, Wyoming, a stepson Dick (Lorna) Blust, of Rock Springs, Wyoming and a stepdaughter, Jane (Cole) Harner, of Van Buren, Missouri, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
