Karen Elizabeth Hampton passed away on August 20, 2024. Karen was born on Nov. 3, 1940, to Angela Pertlicek Shold and Harold J. Shold in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She grew up in Elkader, Iowa, and attended college in Cedar Falls where she graduated in 1962. She taught school in Iowa and Colorado. It was in CO where she met and married John W. Hampton. They moved to Lander, WY in 1966. Karen began teaching again full-time in 1979 at Wyoming Indian Elementary School. She taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades with 5th being her favorite. She retired in 1999 after 20 years of teaching. Karen loved to travel and especially loved to cruise. She was very involved with the Catholic Church and loved to quilt, read, and solve crossword puzzles.
Karen is preceded in death by her husband John.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Stolley (Jim); daughters, Julie Limardo (Husband, Scott; Son, Brenden; Daughter, Mallorie), Pamela McIntosh (Husband, Brian; Son, Kohl; Daughter, Hannah), and Son, Timothy (Wife, Jenaneta; Sons, Noah and Gage; Daughter, Cira) and many nieces and nephews.
The rosary will be on Saturday, August 24, at 7:00 P.M. at the Hudson's Funeral Home, and the funeral will be on Monday, August 26th, at 10:00 A.M. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lander, WY.
