Karen Ann Farthing died peacefully surrounded by her family on Oct. 3, 2015. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 12th at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lander.
Karen Ann Hayes Farthing was born in Lander in 1938 to Robert D. And Eva C. Hayes. She grew up in Lander and married her high school sweetheart, Bill Farthing. Together they had three children, Lynn, Bob and Kristin. Just this past year they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their entire family.
They spent 18 years in Powell where Bill was a high-school teacher and coach and Karen was a homemaker and mother. They moved to Lander in 1976 where they joined Bill's parents working at Star Realty until retiring in 2001.
Karen enjoyed golf, bridge, flower gardening, PEO, dinners with friends and traveling. Her greatest love was spending time with her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchilrdren. She was their best supporter in every endeavor, and along with Bill made every effort to celebrate all special occasions with their family.
Her greatest legacy is her loving survivors. Her husband Bill, of Lander; her children Lynn McRann (Mike), of Lander, Bob Farthing (Kathy), of San Diego, Kristin Ashdown (Boyd), of Tucson; grandchildren Collin McRann, of Seattle, Chad McRann, of Reno, Colton McRann, of Bozeman, Kaitlyn McRann, of Denver, Kory Farthing (Shelby), of Denver, Kristie Riffle (Dave), of Temecula, Calif., Kellie Lighthall (Kent), of Denver, Kortni Unger (Dan), of Salt Lake City, Brayden Ashdown, of Denver and Breck Ashdown, of San Francisco; great-grandchildren Luke and Bodey Riffle, of Temecula, Calif., and Jackson Unger, of Salt Lake City.
