Joseph Chavez, Jr. "Papa Joe" died Saturday, March 12, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. He was 85 years old.

An evening service will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 7pm at Blue Sky Hall, Ethete.A wake will follow at #8 Farm Station Road in Ethete.Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 10:00am at Blue Sky Hall.Interment following at St. Michael's Mission Cemetery in Ethete.

Joseph Chavez, Jr. was born April 16, 1930, the son of Joseph Casillas Chavez, Sr. and Mary Grace Caldwell Chavez.He married Lillian Oldman Chavez in 1952.He worked many years with Louisiana Pacific and the Northern Arapaho Tribe.

Everybody knew him as Papa Joe.Papa enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.He will be remembered for his humor, hard work, his guitar playing and the love he had for his family.He enjoyed his long hard working days under the hood of any vehicle.Great mechanic he was while enjoying his cup of java and Marlboro Ultra-Light.

Papa Joe is survived by his wife, Lillian Chavez; daughters, Arline Trosper, Myra Watt, Iris Oldman, Juanita Stamp and Georgia Gneiting; Sons, Bill Watt Sr., Martin, Keith, Clarence and Isaac Chavez; Numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Grace Caldwell Chavez, his father Joseph Casillas Chavez, Sr.; sisters Rosie, Alvena and Delores Chavez and Ambrosia Harris; brothers Isaac, Martin and Valentine Chavez; daughters Kathryn Chavez, Vera Trosper and Polly Kniffen; sons Donnie and Bruce Chavez, James Oldman, Duane Oldman and Michael Hatt; and nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
