Jerry Lee Weast

January 23, 1949 — November 27, 2011

Jerry Lee Weast, 62, a former resident of Lander, Wyoming, died on November 27, 2011 at Fort Meade VA Medical Center in Sturgis, South Dakota. Jerry was born Janurary 23, 1949 to Carl and Dorothy Weast in Garden City, Kansas. He had one brother, Leonard Weast and one sister, Joyce Groathouse, formerly of Lander. Jerry graduated from Riverton High School in 1969. He then received an associate degree in drafting. Jerry enlisted in the Navy in Anchorage, Alaska and proudly served from July 20, 1971 to June 9, 1975. He served in the Vietnam War. The last ship Jerry was on was the USS Sumter. Jerry married Mary Lou Paris on May 10, 1974 in Norfolk, Virginia. They had one daughter, Teresa Lee. After serving in the Navy, Jerry and Mary Lou moved to Flint, Michigan where Jerry worked for GM Fisher Body plant. They moved to Lander in 1982 and Jerry worked as an architect for Eaton Corporation in Riverton. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. Jerry was an excellent archer and enjoyed working to rebuild old cars with friends. Jerry was a Search & Rescue scuba diver for Fremont County. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 334 in Lander. Jerry is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa & Rob Hampton of Nampa, Idaho, his three grandchildren, Braden, Rhianna & Brooklyn Hampton, his sister, Joyce Groathouse of Cody, Wyoming, and many nieces & nephews. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Dorothy Weast of Lander, his brother, Leonard Weast, twin sisters, Louette and Annette Weast, and his brother-in-law, Richard (Dick) Groathouse of Lander. Services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Rev. Harold (Bud) Hampton of Nampa, Idaho will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Graveside services with Military Honor will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.
