Jane Irene (Dyer) Chapman, 71, Lander
Funeral services will be held Monday, September. 21, 2009 at 1p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Lander for Jane Chapman, 71, of Lander, who passed away September. 16 at Lander Regional Hospital from complications of pneumonia.
Mrs. Chapman was a long-time Lander resident. She was a registered nurse who worked at the Lander hospital for 30 years. She spent several years as the manager of the Skilled Nursing Unit, and later as manager of the Pine Ridge Unit. She retired in 2005. She also served on the city council for 11 years from 1989 to 2000.
She is survived by her husband Garve Chapman. They were married for 45 years. She is also survived by her daughter Stacey Heaton, son-in-law Scott, and grandchildren Hannah and Luke of Lakewood, CO, her brother-in-law and wife Gerald and Peggy Chapman of Canon City, CO, and niece Tammy Groves of Denver, CO. Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by their daughter, Tracy.
She was born Feb. 11, 1938 in Friend, NE to Loyd and Mary (Tous) Dyer. She graduated from Exeter High School in 1955 and received her registered nursing degree from Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing in Nebraska. She then worked for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.
Jane married her high school sweetheart, Garve, in Littleton, CO on March. 14, 1964. They moved to Lander in 1970.
Jane travelled with her husband to Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean and throughout the United States. She was active in community affairs, loved trying new recipes on her friends, and was a talented seamstress and avid reader. She doted on her husband and grandchildren and dearly spoiled their dog, Puff.
