James "Jim" Barrett Wheeler, 56, of Riverton, WY, died on December 20, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming.

James is survived by his father, Cecil Walker; his companion, Madeliva Blackburn; sisters, Daryl Makeshine, Melissa Makeshine; brothers, Lionel Makeshine, Byron (Jolene) Makeshine, Cecil Walker Jr., Raymond Walker, Preston Walker; nephew and niece, Jelawyney and Illyonna Eagle; aunts, Evette Kilcrease, Jeanette Fresquez, Regina (Eli) Armajo; cousins, Cheryl Felter, Lawrencine Felter, Chauncey Friday Jr., Julia Antelope, Vincent Kilcrease, Nathan Kilcrease, Victoria Kilcrease Romero, Rainy Fresquez, Daniel Fresquez, Darilyn Bent, Nicole "Fawn" Antelope, Adrian Antelope, Mark Rhodes, Matthew Rhodes, Anthony "Tony" Hopper, Michelle Wheeler, Cheryl A. Wheeler, Byron Shavehead; numerous nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Makeshine; sisters, Robyn Makeshine, Shawna Walker; brother, Michael Makeshine; sister-in-law, Thedosia Kills On Top; grandparents, Bill and Edith Wheeler; uncles and aunts: Lawrence and Gloria Wheeler, Alphia Antelope, Rebecca "Becky" Wheeler Varela, Velma Rhodes, William "Billy" Wheeler, Conrad Wheeler, Darrell Hopper, Willis Whiteman; cousins, Curtis Wheeler, Marvin Friday, Dawn Marie Wheeler, Brian Rhodes.

A visitation will be held at the Chapel of Mount Hope (Hudson's Funeral Home, 680 Mount Hope Dr., Lander, WY 82520) on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at St. Michael's Episcopal Mission (Our Father's House, 3 St. Michael's Circle, Ethete, WY 82514) on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
