James "Jim" Fossey
August 16, 1948 ~ April 1, 2014
Jim Fossey was born August 16, 1948 in Lander, Wyoming to Les and Betty Fossey. Jim grew up in Dubois until his family relocated to Worland where he graduated high school and married Diana Peil. Jim then went on to attend the University of Wyoming where he earned his degree in Psychology.
Jim and his second wife, Linda managed and owned home electronics stores in Wyoming, Utah and Arizona before returning to Fremont County to pursue Jim's love for helping children while employed by Fremont Counselling and the Arapaho and Shoshone Tribes.
Jim's passions were, his family, music, fishing, camping and cheering on his Wyoming cowboys.
This quote by Steve Raymond touches on Jim's "zest for life" as well as his brave sixteen year journey with cancer: "There is no monopoly on courage. It is the quality of courage found in fish that leads men to fish for them. And it is something of the same quality in man himself that keeps him wading bravely through swift waters even when the hour is late and shadows are closing in around him."
Jim is survived by his wife Linda, his sons Brian Fossey, Brandon Fossey, daughter in law Lisa and sons Chad and Jasen Mitchell.Jim was blessed with five grandchildren; Josh Fossey, Sierra Fossey, Levi Fossey, Brooke Mitchell and Tyler Mitchell. He is also survived by his sister and brother in law, Judy and Dave Skates of Lander, their children; Donovan Detimore, Lindsey Gee, Lana Christensen, Devona Hewitt and Katie Skates. Also his sister in law Kay Fossey and her sons, Chris and Justin Fossey of Riverton.
Jim is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents and his Brother Les "Lee" Fossey of Riverton.
Jim's family and friends will host a joyful gathering to celebrate the life of this extraordinary man and return him to his spiritual home in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming in the summer of 2015.
