JJackson S. Clair Sr., 33, of Fort Washakie passed away on February 13, 2017 in Lander Wyoming. There will be a Visitation and an All Night Wake will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 17th at the Family Home located at 1555 Paint Brush Loop in Fort Washakie. Funeral services will start at 10:00am on Saturday, February 18th at Rocky Mountain Hall with a burial to follow at the Clair Family Cemetery. Arlen Shoyo Sr. will be officiating.
Jackson S. Clair Sr. was born March 23, 1983 in Lander. He is the son of Delta (Clair) Azbill and Martin Spoonhunter.
Mr. Clair was a lifelong resident of the Wind River Indian Reservation. At the time of his passing, he was employed with Shoshone Rose Casino.
Jackson attended Fort Washakie Headstart, Fort Washakie Elementary, Wyoming Indian Junior High and then graduated from Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota.He returned home and enrolled into college at CWC in Riverton, WY where he was involved with the Rodeo Club.
He always looked forward to hunting and fishing with his family. If he wasn't in the mountains he was working with his horses or helping someone with their livestock. There was never a dull moment when Jackson was around.
Jackson Clair Sr. is survived by his wife, Tonya Clair; children Jackson Jr, Tanisha, Samiya, Kalillah, Braxton and Dalton Clair; mother Delta (Clair) Azbill; father, Martin (Jackie) Spoonhunter; sisters; Utahnna BearComesOut, Chanel, Rafina and Janice Azbill; Clair and Misty Spoonhunter; Letahill Trosper; brothers, Jarred BearComesOut, Kelly, Orrin and Garland Spoonhunter; grandmother, Anita Clair; uncles, Jason Clair and George Spoonhunter Sr., and Sky BigKnife; aunts, Carma and George Redman, Patricia and Danny Eagle, Marge St. Clair, Agnes Logan, Charlene Hoover and Delores Cuch; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Extended families Waddas, Neidos, Dingrees, Shoyos, Brown, Warren, Sage, Spoonhunter and Ramsdell and other families from Idaho, Utah and Montana.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Madison Clair; great-grandmother, Ida Nocota; great-grandfather Dan B. Clair and Lee Wadda; great-grandparents Harrison and Anna Shoyo Sr; grandparents Delphine Clair, James and Marqurite Spoonhunter; Stepfather, Marvin Azbill; brothers, Winston "Chiefy" Spoonhunter and Shawn Clair; uncles Robert Spoonhunter, Ray Logan and Rueben E. St. Clair; aunts, Yvonne (Clair) Big Knife, Marion, Gerldine and Joan Spoonhunter, nieces Kara Guffey, Jamie Guffey and Kaileigh St. Clair.
