Jack Dwayne Pulsipher

October 29, 1942 — July 3, 2024

October 28, 1942 – July 3, 2024

Jack Dwayne Pulsipher (81) died in Riverton, Wyoming on 3 July, 2024.

Jack is the son of Robert LeRoy Pulsipher, Sr. and Vera Harding Pulsipher.  He was born on October 29, 1942 in Provo, Utah.  He was reared in Mapleton, Utah, a farming community of about 1500 people.  During his younger years he worked for hay, grain, and fruit farmers.  Jack preferred to work on cars rather than farms and began early developing his skills with auto and heavy-duty mechanics.

Jack was the third child in a family of nine children – Vera LaRae, Robert LeRoy, Jr., William James, Jerry Dean, Richard Kent, Leonard Earl, Burton Harding and Myrtle Anne.  He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 4 brothers, wife, Eilene, a son Alan Lee and a daughter Krista Lynn. He is survived by his brothers Jerry (Marlene) and Burt (Joy).

While growing up, Jack loved to roam the mountains adjacent to the Pulsipher home.  He found peace and solitude in nearby Maple Mountain.  He attended Mapleton Elementary School, Springville Jr. High, and graduated from Springville High School.  He was a good student and had many good friends in the Mapleton and Springville communities.

The day following high school graduation, Jack joined the United States Army and served with honor for three years.  He served in Germany as a guard with the Berlin Wall.

After the Army, Jack moved to Lander, Wyoming where his family had relocated with the transfer of his father to the Atlantic City Ore Mine in Atlantic City, Wyoming.  He secured a job at the Ore Mine working on heavy-duty machinery.  He was foreman of the maintenance department of large equipment and machinery, which made us proud to think of him as "the boss".  Soon after arriving in Lander, Jack met Eilene Lesher and they began dating.  They were married on 22 November 1963 (the same day the President Kennedy was assassinated). They purchased a house on Goodrich Street in Lander where they raised 4 children – Alan, Kayla, Krista, and Jaime.

When the Ore Mine closed, Jack worked at odd jobs until he was hired by a Gold Mine in Elko, Nevada – heavy duty machinery.  Eilene did not want to leave Lander, so Jack went to Elko and worked in the mine for several years coming home periodically and supporting his family in Lander.  After several years in Elko, Jack returned to live in Lander working several jobs.

Jack loved to keep a very nice yard at their home.  He loved his kids and wanted to be with them.

Eilene passed away August 6, 2021.  Soon afterward, Jack had a fall.  He was rushed to the hospital.  Attempts to have him admitted into several hospitals in Wyoming and surrounding states proved unsuccessful.  Finally, he was flown by helicopter to the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.  He was treated for a brain bleed, stayed in the hospital for a few days, stayed with family and then went back to Wyoming to live with his daughter, Jaime.

Jack is survived by his two daughters, Kayla Guckel (Richard) of Wakefield, Rhode Island and Jaime Duran of Riverton, Wyoming.  He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren (with number 12 on the way).

A Viewing and Funeral will both take place at the Chapel of Mount Hope (Hudson's Funeral Home, 680 Mount Hope Dr., Lander, Wyoming).  The Viewing will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, Friday, July 12, 2024 .  The Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 AM.  Military Honors and the dedication of the grave site will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery following the funeral.

Jack is loved by his family and dear life-long friends.  God bless him.  He is now in the company of family who have welcomed him into the arms of a loving Savior, Jesus Christ.
