Idella Jeannotte

December 16, 1936 — May 8, 2016

Idella Jeannotte, 79, of Lander went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 8, 2016 after a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 from 2:00 to 3:00 at the First Baptist Church in Lander. Per her wishes cremation has taken place.

Idella was born on December 16, 1936 at home along the Sabine River in Louisiana to Jack Webb and Annie May (Fisher) Webb.

On February 5, 1955 she married Vincent Jeannotte. Together they had two daughters Cheryl born December 1955 and Kathy born February 1961.

In the early years of their marriage she and Vince traveled around the western states working for the telephone company and looking for that place to settle down. Idella worked as a telephone operator in Hollywood which allowed her to talk to many celebrities at that time. In their travels they drove though lander and thought it looked like a nice place to live. Idella went into the phone company that day to apply for work and they had her start then and there.

She later worked at Mr. D's as a checker; she enjoyed meeting the people of Lander. In 1978 with encouragement from then Sheriff Pee Wee McDougall she went to work at the Fremont County Sheriff's Office as a Dispatcher. She was soon promoted to Sergeant where she over saw the dispatcher center until she retired in 1995. During this time she also served as an instructor at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy for new dispatchers, along with serving on many committees that helped in shaping our emergency services in Fremont County.

After her retirement she became a snowbird traveling in the winter to Louisiana to spend time with her sister and family there, returning to Wyoming in the summer to live in her cabin along the river. As her health started to fail she flew to Louisiana a few times then finally just made her cabin her permanent home until her death.

She enjoyed feeding and watching wildlife around her cabin, fishing, and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws Ernest and Claire Jeannotte. Sister Helen Lilley, brothers Clyde, Edward and Lloyd Webb all of Louisiana.

She is survived by one brother Bob Web of Louisiana, Daughters Cheryl Jeannotte-Fueschel and Kathy (Jeff) Nauman of Lander. Grandchildren Jonah Fueschel and Jena Fueschel of Aspen, Colorado, Jenny (Jared) Hamilton of Hudson, Dani (Roger) Galitz of Florence, Kentucky, Shayne (Joey) Friday of Lander, and Ross Nauman of Bozeman, Montana, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Sisters-in-law Marlene Hanify, Nora Freer and Carol Gourneau, brothers-in-law Jerry, Darrell and Lyman Jeannotte.
