Herbert Augustine Sr.

Herbert Augustine Sr., passed away on December 2, 2023, at Casper Medical Center. With family by his side. He was born May 12, 1957 in Counselor, New Mexico. Born into Mud People Clan, Hashtł'ishníí Diné, Born for Salt People Clan, Áshįįhii Diné, Paternal (Nali) Gray Streaked People Clan, Nihoobáanii Diné, Material (Chei), Mexican People Clan Naakai Dine'é.

He met his wife Alvena Rose Loneman in 1975. Later the couple married in Idaho. With this union, 4 children were born. Mr. Augustine moved to Wyoming in the 1980s where he spent the rest of his married life.

Herbert was a tough old cowboy and the greatest papa in the world to his grandkids. He was also a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle…he will be sorely missed by all. But "a cowboy never dies, he just rides off in the sunset".

Herbert is survived by his wife, Alvena Augustine of Ethete, Wyoming; sons Herb Jr. (Brittney) Augustine, Ernie (Rosie) Brown, George (Tracy) Abeyta, Everette (Phillis) Yellowman of Pawnee, Oklahoma; daughters, Verna (Tynan) Bearcomesout, Rosemary (Courtney), Candace (Phillip) Toledo, Andrea and Beth Oldman; grandchildren, Herb Augustine 3rd, D'andre Augustine, Darian Augustine, Awndrell Augustine, Juwan Willow, Ferlon Jr. (Josie) Willow, Jerrell Tillman, Charlie Benally, Charlize Benally, Calsie Augustine of Tsalie, Arizona, Dinayla Augustine, Ammy Augustine, Rhianna Spoonhunter of Browning, Montana, Zariah Whiteplume; great-granddaughter Evalyn Augustine; sisters, Theresa & Linda Augustine of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marie (Wilson) Martinez of Counselor, New Mexico, Clarissa (Leonard) Tsosie of Chinle, Arizona; brother, Lindy (Irene) Lamone of Page, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Mary (Anslem) Lee, Karen (Daniel) C' Hair, Peggy Loneman, and Anna Loneman. We hope this list includes everyone if you were missed we sincerely apologize.

He is preceded in death by his son, Charlie Augustine; daughter, June Ann Augustine; parents, John & Christine Costillo Augustine; brothers, Lambert Augustine, Sam Augustine; sisters, Ruth (Francis Sr.) Amos, Delbert Augustine; nieces, Beverly Martinez, Cinderella Martinez, Erica Augustine; nephews, Kurt Augustine, Francis Amos Jr., Titus Amos, Patrick Tsosie, Patrick Yellowman, JB Yellowman, and Michael Fletcher.
