(Evelyn) Heather Cowie was born on December 26, 1926 at a military base in Davenport, England to George and Isabella (Anderson) Cowie. The family soon returned to their native Scotland where Heather grew up, attending local schools. She spent one year in the Women's Royal Air Force in Scotland. She met the love of her life, Tom Geddes, at a local dance in Aberdeen in 1956 and the couple was married in Newhills, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on April 4, 1959. They immigrated with their two young daughters to the United States in the mid-1960s, settling in Lander.
Heather was known for her sweet, gentle nature and her beautiful Scottish brogue. She was a trivia buff, an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles and the soaps or as she called them "my stories." She had many beautiful house plants, a testament to her green thumb. An animal lover, she fed many stray and not so stray neighborhood cats.
She is survived by a brother, Joe (Mary) Cowie of London, England; daughters, Elizabeth Shield of Lander and Angela (Scott) Berger of Jackson. Three grandchildren:Andy (Angelica) Anderson of Jackson, Sarah (Keith) Gantenbein of Riverton, Cameron Peters of Lander; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, her parents George and Isabella, and two brothers; George Cowie and Eric Cowie both of Aberdeen, Scotland. The family would like to express their eternal gratitude to Frontier Home Health and Hospice Care of Fremont County, and to the nursing staff at St. John's Living Center in Jackson for the love and excellent care provided in her final months.
