Mr. Harry Raymond Parmenter, a native of Montgomery Township, Pennsylvania, and a long time resident of Lander, died on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Westwood Heights Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Edgar Parmenter, his mother, Ella Caroline Parmenter, his wife Arlene Patricia White Parmenter, and his son Patrick Kelly Parmenter.
He is survived by his son Charles Parmenter of Mobile Alabama, and his granddaughter Angela Parmenter of Kansas City, MIssouri.
Harry moved to Wyoming with his family in 1969 to enjoy his hobbies of hunting, gold prospecting, ranching, and historical research. He treasured the history and natural beauty of Wyoming, and under the auspices of the Wyoming Recreation Commission was responsible for many of the reconstructions and renovations of South Pass City in the 1970's and early 1980's.
Mr. Parmenter served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps, and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Harry, in later years was a colorful local character who will be missed by many friends. His quick and often racy wit will be long remembered.
Visitation will be from 10:00 till 12:00. Tuesday morning, December 15, 2009, with a Funeral Service following both at Hudson's Funeral Home, Lander, Wyoming. Graveside interment will following at Mount Hope Cemetery also in Lander.
