Grace Jeanette Spoon

Mar 1, 1943 — Apr 11, 2026

On April 11, 2026, Grace Jeanette Spoon, loving wife and mother of two, passed away at the age of 83 after a long illness at her home in Kingsville, Texas. She was born on March 1, 1943, in Conroe, Texas, to James David and Cloteel (Moorhead) Everitt. She married Jess Spoon on January 1, 1964, and enjoyed 52 years together. They raised two sons, George and Brian. Jeanette was passionate about caring for her family and was always there for them. She was a Cub Scout and 4-H leader, plus sponsored area youths with 4-H and FFA projects at many local and county fairs. She also helped her sons with their 4-H and FFA projects as well as other school activities. She belonged to various organizations: the Tennessee Colony Order of the Eastern Star, the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation, the Lander Valley Cattlewomen Association, and was president of the Wyoming State Winter Fair for 8 years. In addition, she owned and operated The Pet Store in Lander, Wyoming. She enjoyed painting and traveling with Jess in their RV. She enjoyed accompanying Jess on the many hunting and fishing adventures during their years together. She always loved to visit and spend time with neighbors, family, and friends. She often said that she loved Wyoming so much that after the death of her husband, she would have stayed there except for the snow. She wasn’t much of a driver on snow.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband Jess, father JD, her mother Cloteel, and sister Argylean. She is survived by her sons, George (Karon) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Brian of Mesa, Arizona, grandson Jacob Spoon, granddaughters Lisa Hale and Christy Hogan, and great-granddaughter Gracelynn Caudle, plus many nieces and nephews.

Jeanette will be interred next to her husband, Jess, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander, Wyoming. Graveside services to be held July 11 at 10 AM. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
