Gertrude "Trudy" Brown
Gertrude Trudy Brown passed away on December 17, 2013. She was 92 years old. The last seven years of her life she resided with her family at 280 Dillon Drive in Lander, Wyoming. According to her wishes a private family memorial will be held. Cremation has taken place. Trudy's cremated remains will be inurned next to her mother's grave at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.
Trudy was born on November 19, 1921 in St. George Utah. She was the daughter of Phillip D. Beavers and Edythe S. (Anderson) Beavers. She spent her early years at the family ranch near Challis, Idaho. The family later moved to Lander. Trudy graduated from high school in Lander. After graduation she moved to California. During World War II she moved to Ogden, Utah where she worked at the Ogden arsenal. At this time she met and married Walter Brown. They had one son, Ridge Brown. The couple later divorced.
After the war Trudy moved to Shoshoni, Wyoming where she worked at the family owned motel and cafe. In 1962 she moved back to Lander. She worked at the First National Bank and later worked for and retired with the City of Lander. After her retirement she moved to the family cabin at South Pass City, Wyoming. Trudy enjoyed rock hunting, sewing, reading, baking, and fishing. She also enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She operated a gift shop at South Pass City for several years. She was also active in real estate development projects.
Trudy was a kind and compassionate person. She was always busy taking care of her pet dogs. Trudy was a loyal and trusted daughter, mother, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister and brother.
Survivors include her son Ridge Brown, daughter -in- law Paula Whiteplume, several nephews, numerous extended family members and many loyal family friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander. Memorials may be given to Lander Senior Center 205 South 10th in Lander, Wyoming or the Lander Pet Connection P.O. Box 854 Lander, Wyoming 82520.
